Advancement Chairperson

The district advancement and recognition chairperson do the following:

• Reports to district program chairperson.
• Stimulates advancement and recognition of Cub Scouts, Scouts BSA, Varsity Scouts and Venturers.
• Ensures that advancement and recognition remain in accordance with National Council's requirements and procedures.
• Recruits and orients district advancement committee.
• Establishes district advancement goals, develops a plan to achieve goals and track's goal attainment.
• Assists Packs, Troops, Teams and Crews; evaluating progress as required.
• Gives special assistance to units with little or no advancement.
• Coaches troop and team leaders in methods for conducting boards of review and courts of honor.
• Recruits and trains an adequate group of merit badge counselors for the district.
• Produces a district merit badge counselor directory.
• Recommends unit and district Scouters for special district and council recognition (Lifesaving awards, Silver Beaver, etc.)
• Implements Council advancement and recognition program.
• Reviews and approves Eagle Scout service project plans.
• Participates in or conducts Eagle Scout boards of review.
